Boulder, Colo. -
The USA Women’s Eagles Roster has been selected for the 2011 Women’s Nations Cup beginning in Canada on August 2.  The team will be assembling in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, July 30 to begin training and will face England, Canada, and South Africa on their quest to capture the Women’s Nations Cup.

The team of 27 will train in Buffalo for just one day before traveling up to Appleby College on August 1 where all teams will be hosted.

“Our preparation has been very limited with only a 4 day camp a month ago before we assemble for the Nations Cup,” said Head Coach Pete Steinberg.  “But I know that the players and the staff are up for the challenge.”

Women’s Collegiate All-Americans Assemble for Play

July 27, 2011
www.usarugby.org

The Women’s Collegiate All-American team has assembled in Lake Placid, NY to prepare for their two matches against the CIS All-Canadian Team in the Can-Am Tournament.  The team has been training together since July 25 and will remain in New York until August 1.

USA Rugby CEO & President of Rugby Operations Nigel Melville sees the two game outing for the Women’s Collegiate All Americans as a great step forward for the development of the Women’s College Rugby.

“This is a great development opportunity for these players, getting to play on the All-American side is hopefully the beginning for many of these players to eventually step up and play for the Women’s Eagles one day”.

The WCAA will play their first match at Ken Wilson Field, Saranac Lake, NY on Thursday, July 28 at 6 P.M. EDT and the second match will be played at Bloomingdale Field, Bloomingdale, New York on Sunday, July 31 at 3:30 P.M. EDT.

Rugby's proof that fans can cohabitate in peace, even among most bitter of rivals

By Brian Hightower, Special to Universal Sports

With the recent brutal assault of a Giants supporter by Dodger fans after a baseball game in L.A., it is time once again for the sporting world to take stock of what is expected from its fans.

If anyone needs proof that fans can cohabitate in peace, even among the most bitter of rivals, they should go to a rugby match.
